I’ve been living in Madrid for almost five years now, and as a sweets lover, I’ve tried quite a few cake shops over the years. Today I want to share a few places I think are really good, hoping it helps friends who enjoy desserts.
La Mallorquina
This shop is located next to Puerta del Sol and is considered a Madrid institution. Their napolitana is truly classic, with perfectly made puff pastry that’s best enjoyed hot. Every time I pass by, I can’t resist going in to buy one. It gets especially crowded on weekends, so I recommend going early. The prices are also reasonable, basically 2-3 euros for a good pastry.

Price Comparison of Various Cake Shops
I’ve compiled the approximate prices of several shops, including Madrid cheesecake, for your reference:
| Shop Name | Regular Cake | Specialty Cake | Coffee |
| La Mallorquina | 2-3€ | 4-5€ | 1.5€ |
| Mamá Framboise | 3-4€ | 5-7€ | 2€ |
| Celicioso | 3.5€ | 6€ | 2€ |
| Panic | 2.5€ | 4.5€ | 1.8€ |
Mamá Framboise
This is a more modern-style cake shop located in the Malasaña district. I really love their fruit tarts, which use quality ingredients and fresh fruit. The decor is also quite stylish, perfect for photos and check-ins. The prices are slightly higher, but I think it’s worth it. They also have some gluten-free options, which is great for friends with dietary restrictions.
Celicioso
Speaking of gluten-free cakes, I have to mention Celicioso. This shop specializes in gluten-free pastries and is basically heaven for people with celiac disease or those avoiding gluten. Their chocolate cake is truly excellent, and you absolutely can’t tell it’s gluten-free. Plus, the staff are very friendly and will patiently explain the ingredients in each product.
Panic
Finally, I want to recommend Panic, which is a chain store with several locations throughout Madrid. Their croissants are really good, although not as authentic as those in France, they’re at a very high level for Madrid. They also sell bread and sandwiches, so when you don’t know what to have for lunch, grabbing a sandwich from them is a solid choice.
These are the cake shops I personally visit most frequently, and each has its own unique character. For those interested in Madrid cake pre-orders or ordering cakes in Madrid, if you have other shop recommendations, feel free to share in the comments below - I’d love to try new places too.
