Recently needed to store my luggage for most of the day during a layover in Madrid to explore the city center hassle-free. After researching the luggage storage services at Barajas Airport, I found them quite convenient and wanted to share this information with fellow travelers.
Storage Locations by Terminal
Madrid Airport offers luggage storage services primarily at terminals T1, T2, T4, and T4S. Terminal T1 has its storage point located near Gate 2 on the arrivals level, which is fairly easy to find. T2 also has one in the Gate 1 area. Most importantly, Terminal T4, where the majority of international flights operate, has its storage facility on Level 0 of the arrivals area, close to the baggage claim zone, with clear “Left Luggage” signage.

Pricing and Hours
The storage service charges by the hour at reasonable rates. Small items cost approximately €6 for the first 2 hours, then around €3 per additional hour. Large suitcases are about €10 for the first 2 hours, followed by €5 per hour. I had heard about a 24-hour maximum price, but upon inquiry, I learned they now calculate based on actual duration, so it’s best to estimate costs in advance if you’re staying for an extended period.
| Luggage Type | First 2 Hours | Per Additional Hour | 24-Hour Price |
| Small Items | €6 | €3 | €78 |
| Large Luggage | €10 | €5 | €130 |
| Special Items | €15 | €7 | €183 |
Regarding operating hours, the T4 storage facility operates 24/7, which is excellent for late-night or early morning flights. T1 and T2 services run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so keep that in mind.
Practical Usage Tips
Remember to bring your passport or ID when checking in luggage. Staff will register your information and provide a receipt, which you must present when collecting your belongings. Valuables, electronics, and fragile items are best kept with you, as while the storage facility offers insurance, the claims process can be cumbersome.
If your layover exceeds 8 hours, consider using Madrid airport baggage check-in services in the city center, such as those at Atocha Train Station or near Puerta del Sol, which may offer Madrid airport baggage carousel information more competitive pricing. However, airport storage’s advantage is convenience, especially when you have tight connection times and don’t want to drag luggage around.
Madrid Airport’s luggage storage service is quite reliable. While not the cheapest option, it excels in convenience and security. Feel free to share your own experiences for mutual reference.
