Last month during a business trip to Madrid, I specifically chose to stay three nights at the Pestana CR7 hotel, which Cristiano Ronaldo invested in. I’d seen a lot of online discussions about this hotel—some people loved it while others complained—so I wanted to experience it myself to see what it’s really like.
Location and Transport
The hotel is located on Gran Vía, arguably Madrid’s busiest street. It’s a 5-minute walk from Gran Vía metro station, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and theaters. You can walk to Puerta del Sol in 10 minutes and reach the Royal Palace in about 20 minutes. The location is incredibly convenient for tourists, as you can essentially walk to all the major attractions.

Room Facilities
I booked a standard double room, which wasn’t particularly spacious but was decorated in a modern style. The walls featured various photos and jerseys of Ronaldo, with CR7 logos visible everywhere. The bed was quite comfortable, and the soundproofing was decent—despite being in a busy area, it wasn’t noisy at night. The bathroom had wet-dry separation, and the toiletries were good quality. The only disappointment was the lack of a mini-fridge in the room—if you wanted a cold drink, you had to go downstairs to buy one.
Price Comparison
I stayed during peak season, so prices were relatively high. Here’s a simple comparison I made:
| Hotel Type | Average Room Rate | Location Rating |
| Pestana CR7 | €120-150 | 9/10 |
| Four-star hotels in same area | €100-130 | 8/10 |
| Chain business hotels | €80-100 | 7/10 |
In terms of value for money, the CR7 hotel is mid-to-upper range. If you’re a Ronaldo fan, the price is worth it. However, if you’re just a regular tourist, you might find it a bit expensive, as the facilities are comparable to ordinary four-star hotels.
Overall Impression
Honestly, this hotel feels more like a football-themed boutique hotel rather than a traditional luxury hotel. The staff were very friendly and had no problem communicating in English. The breakfast selection was quite diverse, with good quality Spanish ham and bread. The bar area gets lively in the evenings, often filled with fans chatting and watching matches.
I originally thought I might run into Ronaldo himself, though of course that’s just a joke. Overall, if you appreciate football culture and want to experience something different in your accommodation, this hotel is definitely worth trying. However, if you’re on a tight budget, Madrid has many more cost-effective options. Next time I visit Madrid, I’ll probably try a different hotel—after all, Roma vs Atletico Madrid experiencing different places is the only way to find what suits you best.
