I’ve been closely following Real Madrid’s matches lately, and the team’s form has been quite inconsistent. As a long-time fan, I’d like to share my thoughts on the recent games.
Recent Performance Review
Since October, Real Madrid’s performances in La Liga and the Champions League have been mixed. Although we lost the Clásico against Barcelona at home, the overall performance wasn’t too bad. There’s definitely room for improvement in midfield control, especially when facing high pressing, where the passing error rate was high. However, the speed advantage of Vinícius and Rodrygo was evident, creating threats through several counter-attacks.

The Champions League performance has been relatively stable. In the match against Napoli, Bellingham’s goal was absolutely crucial. The changes this English midfielder has brought to the team since joining are obvious - not only contributing in attack but also covering large areas when defending. Ancelotti’s rotation strategy has been well executed.
| Match Date | Opponent | Score | Competition |
| October 7 | Barcelona | 1:2 | La Liga |
| October 11 | Napoli | 3:2 | Champions League |
| October 18 | Sevilla | 2:1 | La Liga |
| October 22 | Braga | 2:0 | Champions League |
Tactical Changes and Squad Adjustments
What interests me most is Ancelotti’s recent experimentation with formations. Sometimes using 4-3-3, other times switching to 4-4-2 - this flexibility makes it difficult for opponents to figure us out. Although Kroos is getting older, his experience and passing vision remain invaluable assets to the team. Modrić is still going strong too; while his stamina has declined, his ability to handle crucial moments is unmatched.
In defense, the partnership of Rüdiger and Alaba has been fairly solid, though occasionally lapses in concentration lead to basic errors. Goalkeeper Courtois has been outstanding since his return, with several key saves helping the team secure points. Right-back Carvajal’s attacking contribution has always been excellent, while Mendy on the left is more defensively reliable.
The upcoming fixture schedule poses significant challenges, especially potential strong opponents in the Champions League knockout stages. The team needs to maintain attacking prowess while improving defensive stability. Hopefully, there will be suitable signings in the winter transfer window to strengthen midfield depth. After all, with such a long season, injuries and fatigue are inevitable factors.
As a fan, I believe patience is most important right now. Real Madrid has never lacked the ability to explode at crucial moments throughout its history, and I trust Ancelotti can lead the team through this rough patch. What tactics do you think the team should adopt in the upcoming Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid? Looking forward to discussing with everyone.
