Last month I vacationed in Malaga and stayed at the Barça Hotel for four nights. Overall, it was quite pleasant, and I’d like to share my experience with everyone. This hotel has a convenient location, not too far from the city center, and the surrounding area is relatively quiet.
Hotel Overview
Barça Hotel is a three-star establishment featuring typical Andalusian architectural style, with white walls complemented by blue decorative elements that create a fresh, clean appearance. The front desk staff speak both English and Spanish, so communication is generally smooth. Check-in was efficient with minimal waiting time.

Room Facilities and Comfort
I booked a standard double room, approximately 20 square meters—not particularly spacious but adequate. The bed was comfortable with pillows of just the right firmness. The air conditioning worked well, which is crucial during Andalusian summers. The bathroom features a shower with stable hot water and good pressure. The only minor drawback is the soundproofing could be better, as you can hear some noise from adjacent rooms.
The room includes free WiFi with decent speed, sufficient for browsing social media and streaming videos. The minibar offers drinks and snacks, though prices are steep—I’d recommend buying from a supermarket instead.
Location and Transportation
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Malaga Cathedral and roughly 20 minutes to the Picasso Museum. There’s a bus stop nearby, making it convenient to reach the beach or other attractions. Several restaurants and tapas bars in the vicinity provide plenty of dining options for evenings out.
| Attraction | Distance | Transportation |
| Malaga Cathedral | 1.2 km | 15-minute walk |
| Picasso Museum | 1.5 km | 20-minute walk |
| La Malagueta Beach | 2.3 km | 10-minute bus ride |
| Gibralfaro Castle | 2.8 km | 8-minute taxi |
Breakfast and Dining
The hotel offers a buffet breakfast with a fairly standard selection. You’ll find bread, ham, cheese, fruit, yogurt, and freshly brewed coffee and juice. I especially recommend their Spanish churros with hot chocolate—very authentic! However, if you’re looking for a more elaborate spread, you might find the options somewhat limited.
Value for Money Analysis
I paid around €65 per night, including breakfast. Considering the location and overall facilities, this price is reasonable. Hotels in central Malaga are generally expensive, making Barça Hotel a good value option. If your budget allows, you might consider five-star beachfront hotels.
Barça Hotel suits travelers seeking comfortable accommodation on a moderate budget. If you plan to spend most of your time exploring during the day and just need a place to sleep at night, this hotel is perfectly adequate. However, if you’re expecting particularly luxurious amenities or perfect soundproofing, you might want to consider other options.
