Real Ice Cream Price Guide in Málaga
With the weather getting hotter, during my time living in Málaga, I’ve tried ice cream shops all over the city. Today I’m organizing price information from different areas to give you a reference.
Beach Area Ice Cream Shops
Ice cream shops near Malagueta Beach are relatively expensive, as it’s a popular tourist area. At the small shop I frequent, a single scoop costs 2.5 euros, and a double scoop is 4 euros. While it’s a bit pricey, the portions are generous, and you can sit by the beach eating with the sea breeze, which feels pretty nice. If you want to save money, walk two blocks inland and prices drop by about 0.5 euros.

Old Town and City Center Price Comparison
There are several chain ice cream shops on Calle Larios main street with fairly uniform pricing. Here’s a price table I’ve compiled for common shops:
| Shop Type | Single Scoop | Double Scoop | Triple Scoop |
| Beach area small shop | 2.5€ | 4€ | 5.5€ |
| City center chain | 2€ | 3.5€ | 5€ |
| Old town traditional shop | 1.8€ | 3€ | 4.2€ |
| Supermarket freezer | 3-5€/box | - | - |
Highly recommended are those family-run traditional heladerías in the old town, which are not only affordable but also have authentic flavors. My favorite is near Plaza de la Merced, where a double scoop is only 3 euros, and their pistacho and stracciatella flavors are amazing.
Shopping Center and Supermarket Options
Ice cream counters at Larios Centro or El Corte Inglés are actually priced similarly to outside, around 2-2.2 euros per scoop. The advantage is air conditioning, so you can rest after shopping. Boxed ice cream from supermarkets is more economical, with 500ml Häagen-Dazs around 5 euros, offering the best value for enjoying at home.
Money-Saving Tips
In my experience, between 3pm and 5pm some shops offer small discounts, or you can check promotional information at shop entrances. Also, if you’re a student, remember to bring your student ID as some shops offer discounts. When wandering around Centro Histórico on weekends, compare several shops before deciding, as prices on the same street can differ by 0.5-1 euro.
Never buy at the train station or airport, where prices are basically 1.5 times city rates. If you really want high-quality Italian artisan gelato, I recommend heading to Muelle Uno port area, where there are several artesanal shops. Although single scoops start at 3 euros, the ingredients are truly premium, making it worth the occasional indulgence.
