Recently preparing to return home from Málaga to visit family, I wanted to bring some gifts for relatives and friends. After researching the local prices, I’d like to share my findings with you.
Local Food Products
Málaga is most famous for its sweet wine and olive oil. A bottle of decent quality Málaga sweet wine costs around 8 to 15 euros. If you want to buy aged or winery-selected varieties, prices can go up to 25 euros or more. For olive oil, a 500ml bottle of extra virgin olive oil at the supermarket typically costs 5 to 10 euros, but if you visit specialized oil mills for small-batch production, prices may double. Personally, I recommend buying mid-range products as they offer the best value for money.

Souvenirs and Handicrafts
In souvenir shops around the old town or near the port, ordinary items like fridge magnets and keychains cost 3 to 8 euros each. If you want something more distinctive, I recommend ceramic products. Hand-painted small plates or tile paintings range from 10 to 50 euros depending on size and craftsmanship. Traditional fans are also available, with simple ones starting at 5 euros and exquisite handmade fans starting from 30 euros.
| Gift Type | Price Range | Recommendation | |
| Málaga Sweet Wine | 8-25€ | ★★★★★ |

Fashion and Luxury Items
If you have a more generous budget, Calle Larios shopping street in downtown Málaga features many international brands. Spanish local brands like Loewe and Tous are somewhat cheaper than back home. A Tous silver accessory costs approximately 80 to 200 euros, while Loewe small leather goods start at 300 euros. Fast fashion brands like Zara and Mango are even more affordable, with clothing items typically priced between 20 and 50 euros.
Overall, if you’re just buying small gifts for colleagues and friends, a budget of 200 to 300 euros should suffice. If you want to buy something nicer for family members, I’d recommend budgeting 500 euros or more to be safe. Also, I suggest avoiding shops in pure tourist areas where prices tend to be inflated. Instead, visit El Corte Inglés department store or local neighborhood shops frequented by residents for better selection and more reasonable prices.
