I’ve been planning a trip to Alicante recently and after extensive research, I’ve finally figured out the best times to visit. Here I’d like to share my findings, hoping they’ll help those preparing to go.
Spring: My Personal Top Recommendation
Spring in Alicante is truly wonderful. Temperatures range between 15-25°C, perfect for exploring without being too cold or hot. Tourist numbers are still manageable at this time, and beaches won’t be overcrowded. There are many traditional activities during Easter, so if you’re interested in local culture, this is a great time to visit. However, note that hotel prices increase during Easter week, so it’s best to book in advance.

Monthly Temperature and Rainfall Comparison
The table below summarizes Alicante’s basic climate data throughout the year, which can serve as a reference for Alicante’s October weather:
| Month | Average Temperature | Rainy Days | Tourist Density |
| Jan-Feb | 12-16°C | 4-5 days | Low |
| Mar-May | 15-23°C | 3-4 days | Moderate |
| Jun-Aug | 25-30°C | 1-2 days | Very High |
| Sep-Oct | 22-26°C | 4-5 days | Moderate-High |
| Nov-Dec | 14-18°C | 4-6 days | Low |
Summer: Beach Season But Be Prepared
Summer is Alicante’s peak tourist season. The advantage is excellent weather with sunny days every day, and sea water temperatures are perfect for swimming. However, the downsides are obvious: tourists everywhere, beaches packed with people, restaurant queues, and doubled hotel prices. Moreover, July-August can get really hot, reaching over 35°C at midday, which can be challenging if you don’t handle heat well.
Autumn: The Best Value Option
September and October are actually excellent times to visit. The sea water remains warm, weather stays sunny, but tourist numbers have significantly decreased. Hotel and flight prices become much more affordable, which is good news for budget-conscious travelers. The only thing to note is that September occasionally has brief rainfall, though it usually doesn’t affect travel plans.
Winter: Ideal for In-Depth Experiences
While winter isn’t the traditional tourist season, if you want to avoid crowds and deeply experience local life, this time is actually quite good. Although temperatures drop to around 15°C, for Northern European visitors this is already quite warm. Swimming might be a bit cold, but exploring the old town, enjoying local cuisine, and visiting museums are perfectly fine. Plus, accommodation prices are at their lowest for the entire year.
I personally recommend April-May and September-October most highly - good weather, fewer crowds, and reasonable prices. If you must go in summer, I suggest choosing early June or September to avoid the July-August peak. Hope this information is helpful, and feel free to share your own experiences!
