Practical Guide and Experience Sharing for Overnight Stays at Valencia Airport
Last month, I had to spend an entire night at Valencia Airport due to booking a 6 AM flight. I was initially worried it would be quite challenging, but the actual experience turned out to be not so bad as long as you’re well-prepared. Here I’m sharing my experience with everyone, hoping it can help friends with similar needs.
Airport Environment and Opening Hours
Valencia Airport operates 24 hours, which is very convenient for passengers needing to stay overnight. The terminal isn’t particularly large, but all basic facilities are well-equipped. Passenger flow decreases noticeably after 11 PM, and by 1-2 AM it becomes quite quiet. Security personnel patrol regularly, so safety isn’t a major concern. However, note that most shops and restaurants close around 10 PM, with only a few convenience stores and vending machines operating throughout the night.

Recommended Rest Areas
Based on my observations and actual experience, the following areas are suitable for overnight rest:
| Area Location | Comfort Level | Pros and Cons |
| 2nd Floor Departure Hall Waiting Area | ★★★★ | More comfortable seats with charging outlets, but bright lighting |
| 1st Floor Arrival Hall Rest Area | ★★★ | Relatively quiet, but seats have armrests preventing lying flat |
| Near Boarding Gates | ★★★★★ | Most comfortable, some areas have recliners, but requires passing through Valencia Airport parking security |
I personally recommend finding a spot near the boarding gates after passing through security, where the seat design is more user-friendly, and some areas even have dedicated rest recliners. If you have a flight the next day, going through security early can also save time in the morning.
Practical Facilities and Services
The airport restrooms are very clean, with maintenance staff on duty 24 hours. If you need to freshen up, bring travel-sized toiletries. Although there are no dedicated shower facilities, the restrooms have separate accessible toilets with larger spaces where you can do a quick wash.
Regarding WiFi, there’s nothing to worry about - the airport provides free wireless network through Valencia Airport procedures, with decent speed for watching videos and browsing social media. Charging outlets are evenly distributed throughout the waiting areas, so you won’t have trouble finding a place to charge your devices.
Overnight Precautions and Suggestions
From a safety perspective, always keep valuables with you or within sight. Although the airport is generally very safe, it’s wise to be cautious when sleeping. I used my backpack as a pillow and kept my passport and wallet in a body-worn pouch, which helped me sleep more peacefully.
Recommended items to bring: hotel reservation, eye mask, earplugs, thin blanket or large scarf, neck pillow, power bank, snacks and water. The airport temperature drops at night with strong air conditioning, so bringing a jacket or blanket is essential. I didn’t prepare enough warm clothing and suffered from the cold in the latter half of the night.
Money-Saving Tips
If you’re on a budget, staying overnight at the airport is indeed a money-saving option. Compared to booking a hotel in the city, you not only save accommodation costs but also transportation fees and time traveling to and from the airport. However, prepare food and water in advance, as items at the airport are quite expensive. I bought sandwiches and fruit at a nearby supermarket before entering the airport, which saved me quite a bit of money.
The experience of spending the night at Valencia Airport was quite acceptable. As long as you’re well-prepared, you can have a relatively comfortable night. If you have other experiences or suggestions regarding Valencia Airport pickup, feel free to share and exchange in the comments section.
