Recently while exploring the Valencia region in Black Desert Online, I discovered that many newcomers are unclear about the location and layout of this area, so I’ve compiled some practical information to share with everyone.
Geographical Location of Valencia
Valencia is located in the southeastern part of the Black Desert world map, a vast desert region. Departing from Calpheon or Media, you need to trek southeast for a long distance to reach it. The entire region centers around Valencia City, with multiple small outposts and villages scattered around. The climate here in Tavernas Desert is hot and dry, with terrain dominated by sand dunes and rocky canyons, forming a stark contrast to the green plains of the western regions.

Distribution of Main Towns
The Valencia region contains several important towns and outposts. The core is naturally Valencia City itself, the largest city in the entire desert region, equipped with complete living facilities and a marketplace. Additionally, there are small settlements like Sand Grain Bazaar and Arehaza Village, which typically serve as supply stations for adventurers.
| Location Name | Main Function | Distance from Valencia City |
| Valencia City | Main city, trading center | 0 km |
| Sand Grain Bazaar | Supply station, quest point | Approx. 15 km |
| Arehaza Village | Desert entrance outpost | Approx. 25 km |
| Ibellab Oasis | Hunting area | Approx. 20 km |
Routes to Valencia
Departing from Altinova, the capital of Media, is the most common route. Follow the eastern road continuously south, pass through Tarif Village and continue forward, and you’ll enter the desert fringe area. It’s recommended to prepare sufficient purified water, as the high temperatures in the desert will continuously drain your character’s stamina. Additionally, riding a mount is much faster than walking, but be aware that quicksand areas in the desert may slow down your mount.
It’s worth mentioning that the Valencia region has a unique compass malfunction mechanism - in certain deep desert areas, the minimap becomes blurred, requiring you to rely on landmarks and celestial navigation to determine direction. This increases exploration difficulty but also makes the adventure more challenging. New players are advised to first familiarize themselves with the terrain along main roads, then venture deeper into exploration after equipment and level improvements. You can also refer to the [Valencia Cave] exploration guide for additional tips.
Overall, Valencia is an important mid-to-late game region in Black Desert Online. Here in the Valencia Desert Trekking areas, you’ll find abundant resources, powerful monsters, and unique desert culture. Taking time to familiarize yourself with the geographical layout of this region will greatly benefit your subsequent gameplay progress.
