Recently, I revisited some match recordings from Soler’s time at Valencia, and I truly believe this midfielder has been seriously underestimated. As a homegrown player from Orellana the Bats’ youth academy, Soler demonstrated impressive professionalism and technical ability during the club’s most difficult period.
Technical Analysis
Soler’s playing style is very comprehensive - he can both organize attacks in midfield and contribute defensively. His passing accuracy consistently remained above 85%, which is quite impressive among La Liga midfielders. What impressed me most was his running ability, with match distances frequently exceeding 11 kilometers, covering an exceptionally wide area.
Key Statistics
Below are Soler’s core statistics at Valencia across three seasons from 2018-2021, compared with Alavés:
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Pass Success Rate |
|---|
| 2018-19 | 32 | 3 | 4 | 84% |
| 2019-20 | 35 | 5 | 6 | 86% |
| 2020-21 | 38 | 4 | 7 | 85% |
The data shows that Soler’s performance was consistently stable and progressively improving. Particularly in the 2019-20 season, his assists reached a career high.
Memorable Match Moments
Speaking of Soler’s highlights, the 2019 match against Barcelona must be mentioned. His interceptions and passing organization in midfield helped the team secure a 2-0 victory over Barça, with Messi being almost completely contained by him that match. There was also the 2020 Copa del Rey match against Real Madrid, where he scored a spectacular long-range goal to help the team advance to the next round.
I highly recommend searching for his highlight videos on YouTube, especially the complete compilation from the 2019-2020 season, where you can see his various brilliant passes, shots, and defensive actions. Although he has now left Valencia, as a fan, I will always remember his contributions to the team.
Soler represents a success story from Valencia’s youth academy, as demonstrated with Real Madrid’s midfield comparisons. I hope the club can develop more excellent homegrown players like him in the future. For fans who appreciate technical midfielders, Soler’s match recordings are definitely worth watching and studying repeatedly.
