Having just spent the entire month of May in Valencia, I’d like to share the weather conditions here. As a Valencia March weather Mediterranean coastal city, May in Valencia is truly one of the most comfortable times of the year.
Temperature and Weather Overview
In May, Valencia’s daytime temperatures typically range between 20-25°C, with cooler mornings and evenings around 15-18°C. This month is mostly sunny, occasionally cloudy, but rainy days are rare. I only encountered two light showers this month, both afternoon thunderstorms that came and went quickly. Sunshine is abundant and UV rays are quite strong, so sunscreen is a must.

Clothing Recommendations
Based on my actual experience this month, here’s a clothing guide for Valencia weather forecast:
| Time of Day | Recommended Clothing | Notes |
| Daytime | Short-sleeve T-shirts, light jacket | Can get warm at noon |
| Evening | Long-sleeve shirt, light cardigan | Windy by the sea |
| Night | Light jacket | Noticeable temperature difference |
Short sleeves are perfectly fine during the day, but I recommend carrying a light jacket. Especially if you’re going to the beach, the evening sea breeze can be quite cool. For footwear, sneakers or sandals work well - it’s neither too hot nor too cold this season.
Outdoor Activity Experience
May is truly the golden period for outdoor activities in Valencia. I went to the beach several times this month, with water temperatures around 18-20°C. For those accustomed to Valencia weather and cold water, it’s swimmable, though most people still choose to sunbathe on the beach. The city’s parks and squares are also perfect for strolling - Plaza de la Virgen is especially pleasant around 4-5 PM.
A Few Things to Note
Although May weather is great, there are still some things to watch out for. First, don’t absolutely don’t forget sunscreen - the Mediterranean sun is no joke, and a friend of mine got sunburned on the first day. Second, bring a small umbrella; although rain is unlikely, occasional thunderstorms do happen. Lastly, drink plenty of water - while it’s not particularly hot, you’ll still feel dehydrated after a day out.
Valencia’s weather in May is perfect for travel and living - neither cold nor hot, just right. If you’re planning to visit, May is definitely an excellent choice. Feel free to leave comments with any questions!
