I’ve been following the WTA tournament in Valencia lately, and as an important warm-up event before the clay court season, this tournament actually holds significant value. Although it’s not a Grand Slam level event, it attracts many strong players every year. For tennis fans like us living in Valencia or nearby cities, it’s a great opportunity to watch world-class tennis at our doorstep, including experiences at the Valencia Tennis Club.
Tournament Overview
The Valencia event is typically held in April, positioned perfectly during the crucial transition period from hard court to clay court season. The tournament uses clay courts, making it an excellent adaptation opportunity for upcoming major clay events like Madrid, Rome, and the Valencia Tennis Open, as well as the French Open. Many players use this tournament to adjust their form and test new tactics, so you can often witness some surprising match results.

Spectator Experience
Last year I purchased center court tickets, and the overall experience was quite good. The venue isn’t particularly large, but precisely because of this, the viewing distance is closer, allowing you to clearly see the technical details and facial expressions of the players. Ticket prices are much more affordable compared to other major tournaments, with regular matches costing 50-80 euros for decent seats, while final tickets are more expensive but still within reasonable range.
Schedule and Ticket Purchase Tips
The tournament typically lasts one week, from qualifying rounds to the final. If time is limited, I recommend focusing on matches from the quarterfinals onwards, as the remaining players are generally in good form and the match quality is more guaranteed. Tickets can be purchased through the Valencia Tennis Academy official website or legitimate ticketing platforms. Never buy scalped tickets outside the venue, as the risk is too high.
| Ticket Type | Price Range | Recommendation |
| Qualifying Rounds | 20-35€ | ★★★☆☆ |
| Early Main Draw | 45-70€ | ★★★★☆ |
| Semifinals/Final | 80-150€ | ★★★★★ |
Amenities and Transportation
The court location is quite convenient, with metro access to nearby stations and about a 10-minute walk. There are several excellent tapas restaurants in the area for pre or post-match dining. Parking is relatively limited, so if driving, arrive early or opt for public transportation. Food and beverage prices inside the venue are on the higher side, so you can bring your own snacks and water as security checks aren’t too strict.
The Valencia WTA is an excellent value-for-money viewing choice. You get to watch high-level tennis matches without the crowds and exorbitant ticket prices of Grand Slams. For true tennis lovers, these mid-sized tournaments actually offer more charm, allowing you to enjoy the matches in a purer way. Once this year’s schedule is confirmed, I’ll definitely attend again to show my support.
