Accommodation Costs
I stayed in Valencia for 7 days, choosing a youth hostel near the city center. A single room cost 35 euros per night, totaling 245 euros for 7 nights. If you opt for a bed in a shared dormitory, the price can drop to 18-22 euros per night. Hotels in the old town generally range from 60-120 euros, with higher rates during peak season. I recommend booking at least two weeks in advance to save considerably.
Food and Dining Expenses
Valencia’s dining prices are relatively reasonable. My daily meal arrangement was: breakfast at a nearby café, with coffee and bread costing about 4-6 euros; lunch choosing the daily set menu, typically including starter, main course, dessert, and drink, priced at 10-15 euros; dinner sometimes buying ingredients from the supermarket to cook myself, sometimes going to tapas bars, averaging around 30 euros per day for food. Paella is a must-try; an authentic paella costs approximately 15-20 euros.

Transportation and Tickets
Valencia’s public transportation is very convenient. I bought a 10-trip transport card for 8 euros, which was basically enough for a week. From the airport to the city center, you can take the metro with a single ticket costing 3.9 euros. Taking a taxi costs about 20 euros, which isn’t very economical. For attraction tickets, the Oceanogràfic at the City of Arts and Sciences costs 30 euros, the Science Museum 8 euros, and most churches and attractions in the old town are free or only cost 2-5 euros. Total transportation and ticket expenses were approximately 80 euros.
Summary and Recommendations
For the entire trip, my total expenses were approximately: accommodation 245 euros, dining 210 euros, transportation and tickets 80 euros, other miscellaneous expenses 65 euros, totaling around 600 euros. If you want to save more, you can choose hostel beds, shop more at supermarkets, and walk around the old town. Conversely, with a more generous budget, you can upgrade accommodation and try upscale restaurants, with costs potentially doubling to 1200-1500 euros. Valencia is truly a great value travel destination, highly recommended.
