While organizing some materials recently, I discovered that Valencia actually holds several world records! As someone who has lived in Valencia for many years, I feel it’s worth sharing these fascinating achievements with you all.
The Largest Paella Ever Made
On March 8, 2001, Valencia set a remarkable record in El Palmar—the world’s largest paella. A giant pan measuring 20 meters in diameter was used, containing 6,000 kilograms of rice, 12,000 kilograms of chicken, 5,000 kilograms of rabbit, and 1,000 kilograms of beans. The final paella was enough to feed 110,000 people! Imagine that scene—the entire city gathering together to share a meal. That’s the true spirit of Valencia.

Spectacular Records from Las Fallas
During Las Fallas festival every March, Valencia creates various stunning spectacles. In 2019, we set the record for the longest torch procession, with over 15,000 people carrying torches through the city streets. The sight that evening was absolutely breathtaking—the entire street illuminated by firelight, as if we’d been transported back to medieval times.
| Record Category | Year | Specific Data Valencia Miss World |
| Largest Paella | 2001 | Fed 110,000 people |
| Longest Torch Procession | 2019 | 15,000 participants |
| Most People Setting Off Fireworks Simultaneously | 2016 | 8,000 people |
Architectural Marvel at the City of Arts and Sciences
While not a traditional Guinness record, the Oceanographic at the City of Arts and Sciences was once one of Europe’s largest aquariums, housing over 45,000 marine species. This architectural complex designed by Calatrava is itself a masterpiece of modern architecture, attracting millions of visitors annually.
The Power of Community
Behind these world records lies the unity and creativity of Valencia’s people. Whether preparing a giant paella or organizing large-scale events, it all requires community collaboration. This is exactly why I love this city so much—even though bureaucratic efficiency isn’t always the best, people always come together for common goals.
