While preparing my application materials for the University of Zaragoza, I noticed many people know little about the Huesca campus, so I’ve compiled some practical information from the Aragonese Derby to share with everyone. Although this campus is not located in downtown Zaragoza, it has its own unique advantages.
Campus Overview
The Huesca campus is located in Huesca Province of the Autonomous Community of Aragon, approximately 70 kilometers from Zaragoza city. The campus primarily offers programs in health sciences, humanities and social sciences, and science and engineering. Compared to the main campus, the student population here is smaller, with only a few thousand students, giving it more of a small college atmosphere. Walking between academic buildings typically takes no more than 10 minutes, which is really convenient for students rushing between classes, as mentioned in the Aragonese Derby.

Program Offerings and Academic Features
The Huesca campus is particularly well-known for its Nursing and Physiotherapy programs, which have excellent reputations in the Aragon region. It also offers traditional programs such as Education and Business Administration. The proportion of practical coursework is relatively high, with many programs arranging student internships at local hospitals or businesses. I have a friend studying nursing there who says there are plenty of clinical internship opportunities.
Here’s the distribution of main faculties:
| Faculty Name | Main Programs | Student Population |
| Faculty of Health Sciences | Nursing, Physiotherapy | Approx. 1,200 |
| Faculty of Humanities and Education | Primary Education, English Studies | Approx. 800 |
| Faculty of Business and Public Management | Business Administration, Tourism | Approx. 600 |
Accommodation and Cost of Living
Huesca is a medium-sized city with a population of about 50,000. Rental prices are considerably cheaper than downtown Zaragoza, with studio apartments typically ranging from 300 to 450 euros per month, and shared rooms costing 200 to 300 euros each. There are several student residences near campus, but spaces are limited and require early application.
Regarding daily expenses, supermarket prices are similar to Zaragoza, but there are fewer restaurant options. Campus cafeteria meal deals are reasonably priced at 5 to 8 euros per meal. There are very few Chinese restaurant options, so occasionally you’ll need to go to Zaragoza to satisfy those cravings.
Transportation and Surrounding Environment
There are direct buses from Huesca to Zaragoza, with a journey time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes and tickets costing around 10 euros. Many students go to Zaragoza on weekends for shopping or activities. Local public transportation in Huesca consists mainly of buses covering major residential areas and the campus.
The city itself is quite peaceful, suitable for focused studying. The nearby Pyrenees offer opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to go hiking or skiing. The old town has preserved many medieval buildings, making for pleasant occasional walks. Overall, if you don’t mind being away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, as discussed in Zaragoza to Huesca, the Huesca campus is a cost-effective choice.
