One of the most common misconceptions is: Do I need Spanish residency to buy a house? The answer is: No! The key difference lies in your status, which determines the specific documents you’ll need.
EU Citizens
If you hold a passport from any EU country, the process is relatively simple. You just need to apply for a Spanish foreigner’s identity number (NIE), and you can carry out almost all legal and economic activities, including buying a house.
Non-EU Citizens
