I’m relatively new to Spain and have been keeping an eye on various job postings lately, and it seems there are quite a few opportunities in the healthcare sector. I thought I’d share what I’ve found, since many others on this forum might be looking for a job or are interested in this industry. Hopefully, this can get the ball rolling and be helpful to everyone.
Just to be clear, I’m not a recruiter—this is purely information I’ve gathered during my own job search. Some positions may have high requirements, but there are also administrative, customer service, and other roles that are more accessible. You can see if anything fits your profile.

Main Companies’ Career Portals and Job Types
I’ve mainly been looking at a few of the larger insurance and medical service companies, as bigger companies tend to be more stable and offer more positions.
Sanitas: You’re probably familiar with this one, as it’s one of Spain’s largest health insurance companies. Their careers page is updated frequently with roles ranging from doctors and nurses to IT, marketing, and customer service. I saw a posting for a Data Analyst, which I think could be a great direction for us expats if our language skills and professional background are a good match.
DKV Seguros: A German-backed insurance company that’s also very well-known in Spain. Their job openings seem to lean more towards office and sales roles, such as administrative assistants and insurance advisors. The language requirements are high, but if you’re fluent in Spanish and have strong communication skills, this is one to watch.
Asisa: This is another long-standing native Spanish medical group. Besides offering Spanish health insurance plans, they also have their own hospitals and clinics. Therefore, they hire for a very wide range of positions, from front-line medical staff to back-office administration. I’ve noticed they sometimes post internship positions, which are perfect as a stepping stone for recent graduates or those looking to switch careers.
Below is a simple table I made summarizing a few job areas I’ve seen recently. You’ll have to check their official websites for specific requirements and locations, as the information is always changing.
Job Area Reference
| Company Name | Common Job Types | Language Requirements |
| Sanitas | Medical professional roles, IT, Data Analysis (e.g., Spanish medical recruitment), Marketing | Spanish C1 + English B2 or higher |
| DKV Seguros | Insurance Sales, Administration, Customer Service, Finance | Spanish C1/C2 |
| Asisa | Doctors/Nurses, Clinic Reception, Administration | Spanish B2 to C2, varies |
