My child is approaching school age, and choosing a school has been a real headache. We live in the northern part of Madrid, so we’re focusing on schools around Alcobendas and La Moraleja. Over the weekend, we passed by the well-known Joyfe International School. The building looked very impressive, so I decided to do some serious research when I got home.

The school is located in Ciudad Lineal, which is a fairly convenient location. Its biggest highlight is the curriculum. It offers the full International Baccalaureate (IB) program from preschool through to graduation, which is quite rare in Madrid. We all know the value of an IB diploma, and it’s a huge advantage for applying to universities in Europe and the US. They also emphasize multilingual education in English, Spanish, and either French or German, which seems excellent for developing a child’s global perspective.
According to their official website, the school’s facilities are also top-notch, with its own swimming pool, gymnasium, laboratories, and plenty of space for activities. However, you get what you pay for, and with such great resources, the tuition fees are naturally quite ‘significant’. I’ve looked up the approximate costs to give you an idea, but the exact figures can change each year, so it’s best to check directly with the school’s admissions office.
| School Level | Approx. Annual Fee |
| Preschool/Kindergarten | 6,000 - 7,000 |
| Primary School | 7,000 - 8,500 |
| Middle School | 8,500 - 9,500 |
| High School | 9,500 - 11,000 |
Overall, I’m very impressed after my research, but it’s a significant expense, and a school’s quality can’t be judged by its website alone. That’s why I’ve come to this forum to ask my fellow community members: are any of your children currently attending Joyfe International School? Or do you have friends whose children go there? I’d love to hear your honest feedback on things like:
- What’s the academic atmosphere like? Are the teachers attentive and responsible with the students?
- Are there many Chinese students? How well do they integrate?
- Besides academics at Joyfe International School, are the extracurricular activities and sports programs diverse?
Thanks in advance, everyone! Any little piece of information would be incredibly helpful!
