The school actually has a significant background; it belongs to the Hong Kong-based Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network, which has many campuses in mainland China and Hong Kong with a seemingly decent reputation. The Spanish campus is their first one in Europe, which sounds quite impressive. The school is located in El Soto de la Moraleja, in the north of Madrid, which is considered an affluent area, so the environment and safety should be excellent. I’m just not sure how convenient the commute would be for those who don’t live nearby.
Curriculum and Special Features
What I’m most concerned about is their curriculum. According to their official website, they use the National Curriculum for England, combined with Chinese and Spanish language instruction, which seems aimed at cultivating multilingual talents. Their special feature is a so-called ‘fusion curriculum’ that integrates Eastern and Western cultures. For families like ours who want their children to maintain their Chinese language skills while integrating into the local environment, this sounds very appealing. Additionally, they place a strong emphasis on arts and music education, which should be beneficial for nurturing a child’s character and creativity.

However, being a new school, there are always some uncertainties. For example, what is the quality of the teaching staff? Is teacher turnover high? After all, teachers are key to a school’s quality. Another point is the student body composition. I’m not sure about the proportion of international students or the nationalities of the classmates, which is also important for a child’s global perspective and social circle.
