As a newcomer to Spain, I’ve been wrestling with the challenge of choosing a school for my child. Deciding between public, private, and semi-private (concertado) schools with all the scattered information out there has been overwhelming. After some extensive research and comparison, I’ve found a few reliable websites for finding private and international schools in Spain. I’m sharing them with fellow parents who are also navigating the school selection process, hoping it helps!

Comprehensive and Authoritative Platforms
Micole.es
This website is my top recommendation! Micole.es is arguably the largest and most comprehensive school search engine in Spain. You can filter by region, school type, educational focus, and many other criteria. The best part is the user ratings and parent reviews. While they may not be entirely objective, they offer significant reference value. You can also find information on tuition fee ranges and open house dates for many schools, which is extremely convenient.
BuscoColegio.com
Similar in function to Micole, this is another powerful database. I find its interface a bit cleaner and the information categories clearer. BuscoColegio also provides detailed filtering features for Spanish private schools and offers detailed profiles for each school, including educational programs, facilities, and extracurricular activities. I sometimes cross-reference both websites to get a more complete picture. You might even find some lesser-known schools here that aren’t listed on Micole.
Specialized Rankings and Feature Lists
Besides the comprehensive platforms, some media outlets regularly publish school rankings. While rankings aren’t everything, they serve as a good reference. For example, the newspaper El Mundo releases its annual “Top 100 Schools in Spain” list, which is highly regarded among parents. Forbes Spain also conducts similar evaluations. These lists usually detail their selection criteria, such as educational model, faculty quality, and student performance, making them worth studying.
I’ve put together a simple comparison table to help you quickly understand the features of these platforms for finding Spanish private schools:
| Website/Platform | Main Advantages | Main Disadvantages |
| Micole.es | Most comprehensive, large user base, parent reviews | A bit heavy on ads, information can be outdated at times |
| BuscoColegio.com | Clean interface, clear filtering logic | Seems to cover slightly fewer schools than Micole |
| El Mundo / Forbes Rankings | Highly authoritative, clear evaluation criteria | Only covers top-tier schools, not suitable for a general search |
Choosing a school for your child is a major decision, so don’t rely on a single source of information. I recommend using multiple websites to cross-verify details. If possible, definitely attend an open house at your preferred schools to see them in person, talk to teachers and parents of current students, and get a feel for the real atmosphere. I hope everyone finds the best school for their child! ¡Suerte a todos
