I’m relatively new to Spain and have been using BBVA from the start. I’ve always felt their app was one of the more modern ones among the banks. However, I opened the app recently and found the interface is completely different. It looks like there’s been a major version update, and the web version has changed to match. Has anyone else noticed?

My Main Impressions of the Changes
The most immediate change is the UI design. The bottom navigation bar has gone from five icons to four, integrating the old ‘Opportunities’ section into other areas. Now it’s ‘Global Position’, ‘Transact’, ‘Bizum’, and ‘Profile’. Personally, I find it much cleaner, especially with Bizum being given its own main tab. It seems they are really prioritizing this feature.
Previously, on the account details page, you had to scroll up and down to see your transaction history for BBVA. Now, you swipe left and right to switch between different cards and accounts. This design felt a bit strange at first, but once you get used to it, it’s quite efficient, especially if you have multiple accounts, as you no longer need to go back to the homepage to select another one. Additionally, the process for some transfers and bill payments has been slightly streamlined, making the user journey feel shorter.
New vs. Old Feature Comparison
To make it easier to understand, I’ve put together a brief summary of the main changes I’ve noticed. This list is probably not complete (for official support, you can check BBVA’s phone numbers), so feel free to add anything.
| Feature Module | Old Version | New Version |
| Home Page Layout | Long feed, primarily vertical scrolling | Card-based design, horizontal swipe to switch accounts |
| Bottom Navigation | Five icons, features spread out | Four icons, Bizum is highlighted |
| Investments | ‘Opportunities’ section was buried deep | Integrated into ‘Transact’ or account details page |
| User Flow | Some transfers required multiple clicks | Felt a bit cumbersome Streamlined path, more direct |
Overall, I’d give this update a positive review. Although it takes a little time to get used to, the overall logic is clearer, and it’s much more convenient for common tasks like checking your balance and making Bizum transfers. However, I’ve also seen some people complain that some familiar features are now harder to find. What does everyone think about this update from BBVA bank? Do you find it better to use, or do you miss the old version? Let’s discuss!
