Hey everyone! I’ve been lurking on the forums for a while, seeing all the discussions about using different banks for visa applications. Since I just successfully got my student visa using my Sabadell bank statements, I thought I’d share my experience to help others out.
I was debating for a long time whether to go with Caixa or BBVA. Then, a senior student told me that Sabadell is very student-friendly, and she had been using them to renew her residency permit without any issues. So, I decided to give it a try and headed straight to a nearby Sabadell branch.

Opening the Account and Making the Deposit
When I went, I brought my passport, the university acceptance letter, and proof of address. The guy who helped me was super nice, and even though we communicated in a mix of Spanish and English, it was totally fine. He recommended an account specifically for young people, which he said had no maintenance fees—a great perk! The account opening process was quick, taking about half an hour. I walked out with a temporary card and my account details. For the most important part, the deposit, I had my family wire the money from my home country. It arrived in about 2 business days. I deposited a bit more than the official minimum requirement, just to be on the safe side.
Getting the Bank Statements and Proof of Deposit
I waited until the money had been ‘sitting’ in the account for about two weeks before going to the bank to get my documents. I simply told the teller I needed a Certificado de Saldo for my visa application. They understood immediately and knew exactly what I needed. The certificate they printed was very official, with the bank’s stamp and a manager’s signature. I also had them print out my bank statements for the last month. Although I think they only took the proof of deposit certificate during the visa submission, it’s always better to be over-prepared.
| Document | Required? | Notes |
| Original Passport | Yes | Needed for opening the account and getting the certificate |
| Acceptance Letter | Yes | To prove student status |
| Proof of Funds | Yes | Certificado de Saldo |
| Bank Statements | Recommended | Movimientos de la cuenta |
| Proof of Address | Yes | Contrato de alquiler or Padrón |
Overall, my experience using Sabadell for the visa application was very smooth. The whole process, from opening the account to getting the proof of deposit, was straightforward, and the bank staff were professional. If you’re also wondering which bank to choose for your proof of funds from Sabadell, Sabadell is definitely a solid option. Of course, the requirements can have slight differences depending on the consulate or even the specific visa officer, so it’s always best to prepare all your Sabadell bank documents as thoroughly as possible, just in case you need them for your application with Sabadell Bank. Good luck with your applications, everyone!
