I recently rewatched Hustle and it’s just as inspiring as the first time! The movie features many scenes shot in Spain, and the main character is discovered on a Spanish street, which makes it super relatable for those of us living in Spain. As I was watching, I got curious: who are the masterminds behind this film?
A quick search revealed a seriously impressive lineup. The director is Jeremiah Zagar, who hasn’t directed many films, but each has a distinct style. What surprised me even more was the list of producers. Besides star Adam Sandler himself, it includes NBA superstar LeBron James! No wonder the basketball elements in the movie feel so professional and the competition so authentic. With a true basketball aficionado like LeBron overseeing things, the quality was guaranteed.
The Cast is Also a Highlight
Aside from the familiar face of Adam Sandler, the film delves into the world of Spanish basketball brothers, and the core character, ‘Bo Cruz,’ is played by real-life Spanish NBA player Juancho Hernangómez. It’s incredible how naturally he acted, especially since he was still playing in the NBA at the time. The film also features a ton of cameos from familiar NBA faces, which adds another layer of realism to the story.
Basketball Star Cameos
| Player/Celebrity | Role | Notes |
| Anthony Edwards | Kermit Wilts | Main Rival |
| Dirk Nowitzki | Himself | Cameo via video call |
| Trae Young | Himself | Draft prospect |
| Kyle Lowry | Himself | Courtside guest |

I have to say, Adam Sandler really poured his heart into Hustle this time. He shed his usual comedic persona and brought to life a scout fighting for his dreams and family—a performance truly worthy of an award nomination. This movie is more than just a sports film; it’s a story about perseverance and belief. In short, if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. And if you have, feel free to share your favorite scene in the comments
