When I first arrived in Spain, buying ham basically meant choosing whole legs hanging in supermarkets or local markets, or simply buying pre-sliced packaged ham. Recently, I noticed that friends around me have started to favor a new way—buying ham via live streaming! At first, I was a bit skeptical because ham is something you can’t see or touch beforehand, so how could the quality be guaranteed?
Last week, while scrolling on my phone, I accidentally entered a Chinese ham live streaming room and was instantly attracted. The streamer wasn’t one of those shouting salesmen, but a professional ham carver. He fixed a whole Iberian ham leg on a stand, explained the brand, year, and origin, then zoomed in with the camera so viewers could see the texture and fat distribution of the ham, even pressing with his fingers to show its oiliness. The whole process felt like attending a vivid ham tasting class.
After picking the preferred piece, the streamer would cut the leg, slice it, and vacuum-pack it piece by piece right on the spot. The entire process was transparent and what you saw was exactly what you got—much more reassuring than buying blindly packaged slices at the supermarket. I couldn’t resist and ordered a 100-gram portion of Bellota grade hand-cut ham, which was delivered to my door the very next day with very secure packaging.

Live Stream Ham Selection Mini Course
For newcomers, various terms used in the live stream might be confusing, such as Spanish ham live stream lighting. Here, I have briefly organized the main grades of Iberian ham in this Spanish ham cutting live stream for easier understanding, with insights from a Spanish ham and whiskey live stream:
| Grade | Pig Breed | Feeding Method | Label Color |
| Bellota 100% Ibérico | 100% purebred Iberian pig | Acorns and natural pastures | Black |
| Bellota Ibérico | 50%/75% Iberian pig | Acorns and natural pastures | Red |
| Cebo de Campo Ibérico | 50%/75%/100% Iberian pig | Natural pasture food and feed | Green |
| Cebo Ibérico | 50%/75%/100% Iberian pig | Fattened, pure feed | White |
This live shopping experience was quite good; prices were competitive compared to physical stores, and it saved me the hassle of slicing myself. Most importantly, being able to directly see the ham’s quality and slicing process gave me great peace of mind. I wonder if anyone else here in the forum has tried this method? Feel free to share your experiences!
