My friend’s birthday is coming up soon, and he is a huge football fan, especially fond of Real Madrid. Buying ready-made gifts from stores always feels meaningless, so I decided to make some meaningful football-themed gifts myself with creative Spanish football crafting. Having lived in Spain for a few years, I’ve found that craft supply stores are quite abundant and affordably priced, offering a great opportunity to unleash creativity.
Materials List for Handmade Football Gifts
To make football-themed gifts, you need some basic materials. I usually shop at nearby Todo a 100 or Chinese bazaars, where items are plentiful and cheap. The basic materials include colored cardstock, glue, scissors, markers, and some small decorative accessories. If you want to create a 3D football model, you’ll also need white and black foam balls or cardboard.

Personalized Football Photo Frame Making
Photo frames are one of the most practical gifts and not complicated to make. I chose Real Madrid’s classic white as the main color for the Spanish handmade football artwork, cutting out black cardstock pentagons to stick along the frame’s edges. The whole making process takes about 2 hours, but the result is fantastic. You can place a photo of you and your friend or his favorite player inside the frame.
The steps are simple: first sketch the design with a pencil on the white frame, then outline it with a black marker, and finally glue the cut-out football patterns. Remember to let the glue fully dry before handling detailed parts.
| Project | Required Time | Difficulty Level |
| Football Photo Frame | 2 hours | Easy |
| 3D Football Model | 3-4 hours | Medium |
| Team Badge Stickers | 1 hour | Easy |
| Football-themed Bookmark | 30 minutes | Easy |
Creative Football Bookmarks and Stickers
Besides the photo frame, I also made a set of football-themed bookmarks. I cut football-shaped hard cardstock and drew the classic black-and-white pentagon patterns on them. I had initially considered buying ready-made stickers, but hand-drawing them definitely adds more meaning. I punched a small hole on one end of the bookmark and threaded a Real Madrid colored ribbon, making it look very delicate.
These small gifts cost very little but are full of heartfelt sentiment. Craft stores in Spain even sell templates of various team logos, which can be traced or used as references. My friend was deeply touched to receive these handmade gifts, saying they have more sentimental value than anything bought from stores.
