Torremolinos - My Costa del Sol Holiday Experience
Just returned from Torremolinos and I’m absolutely captivated by this charming town! As one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Costa del Sol, it offers not only stunning golden beaches but also preserves the rich Andalusian atmosphere. I’d like to share my travel experience exploring Torremolinos attractions, hoping it will be helpful for those planning to visit.
Stunning Beaches and Coastal Walks
Torremolinos’ main highlight is undoubtedly its beaches. El Bajondillo Beach is my top recommendation - fine sand, crystal-clear waters, and the Paseo Marítimo promenade lined with excellent chiringuitos. Morning jogs here and sunset views are truly life’s greatest pleasures. La Carihuela Beach is perfect for those who prefer a livelier atmosphere, with fantastic seafood restaurants.

Cultural Charm of the Old Town
Beyond the beaches, Torremolinos’ old town is worth exploring. Plaza Costa del Sol is the city’s heart, surrounded by traditional tapas bars and small shops. I highly recommend trying the local pescaíto frito and paella - truly authentic flavors. Casa de los Navajas, a historic building now serving as a cultural center, regularly hosts interesting exhibitions and events.
Practical Transport Information Comparison
| Transport | Cost (€) | Duration | Recommendation |
| Malaga Airport Bus | 3 | 30 minutes | ★★★★★ |
| Taxi | 25-30 | 20 minutes | ★★★ |
| Car Rental | 25/day | 15 minutes | ★★★★ |
Getting from Malaga Airport to Torremolinos is very convenient, with the A Express bus being the most economical option. If budget allows, car rental gives you more flexibility to easily explore nearby towns like Mijas and Marbella.
Accommodation and Dining Recommendations
For accommodation, I chose a small hotel near the La Carihuela area, just a 5-minute walk to the beach with numerous restaurants nearby - very convenient. This area offers reasonably priced accommodation while providing an authentic local living experience.
For dining, definitely try the seafood paella at Marisquería El Yate and the grilled sardines at Frutos restaurant - fresh and delicious. Don’t miss the local heladerías, especially on hot afternoons.
Torremolinos is truly a place to relax and unwind, offering both modern holiday facilities while maintaining traditional southern Spanish charm. The only regret is that the time was too short - next time I’ll definitely stay longer to properly enjoy the slow-paced lifestyle here. Feel free to leave comments with any questions!
