Recently, several friends have had their student visas rejected, which is really disheartening. As someone who has been through this process, I want to share common reasons for student visa rejections, hoping to help friends who are still preparing their applications avoid these pitfalls.
Financial Proof Issues Are Most Common
Insufficient or irregular financial proof is the number one killer of visa rejections. Many students think they can just get a random bank deposit certificate, but it’s far more complicated than that. Unclear funding sources, deposits held for too short a period, insufficient amounts to cover tuition and living expenses - these are all common problems. I was actually asked to provide additional materials because my financial proof didn’t cover a long enough time period.

I recommend everyone prepare financial proof at least 6 months in advance, with amounts covering first-year tuition plus at least 12 months of living expenses. It’s best to provide proof of funding sources, such as pay stubs, property certificates, etc.
Academic and Language Requirements
Academic certification is also a major issue. Some students have inaccurate translations of their academic certificates, or their schools aren’t recognized by the target country, which can all lead to visa rejection. Language scores are even more crucial - not only must they meet minimum requirements, but it’s better to have some margin above that.
| Common Issues | Solutions |
| Incorrect academic certificate translation | Use professional certified translation services |
| Language scores below standard | Retake exams or choose preparatory courses |
| School not recognized | Choose government-accredited legitimate institutions |
Completeness of Application Materials
Incomplete materials or contradictions are another common reason. I’ve seen students rejected for forgetting to submit medical examination reports, and others questioned for inconsistencies between personal statements and other materials. Every document must be carefully checked to ensure information consistency and completeness.
It’s particularly important to note that you should never provide false materials for student visa renewal. Once fraud is discovered, you may face serious consequences including a ban on applications for several years. Honesty is the best policy - even if conditions aren’t perfect, you should declare everything truthfully.
Interview Performance and Motivation Explanation
If an interview is required, performance is also crucial. You must be able to clearly explain your reasons for choosing this country and school, as well as your plans after graduation and TIE appointment processing. What visa officers worry about most is that you have no intention of returning home, so your student visa materials must convince them you have clear study objectives and plans to return home for development.
I hope these experiences can help everyone. If you have other questions, please feel free to discuss in the comments section!
