Just returned from Madrid, where I specifically experienced several hotels considered “top-tier” during this Madrid hotel trip, and I’d like to share my genuine impressions. As someone who has stayed at numerous high-end hotels across European cities, these Madrid properties certainly have their unique characteristics.
Ritz-Carlton: The Epitome of Classic Luxury
Let’s start with the Ritz-Carlton Madrid, located next to Retiro Park—the location is simply impeccable. I stayed in a deluxe room, and from the moment I entered, I could feel the rich classical ambiance. The room featured abundant dark wood and velvet fabrics, with a mattress that was perfectly balanced in firmness, ensuring excellent sleep quality. What impressed me most was the butler service—they truly anticipated your needs, with many requests already arranged before you even voiced them.

Breakfast was served at the Palm Court, with an elegant atmosphere and superior food quality. However, the price is indeed steep, approximately 500-700 euros per night, though it may be slightly cheaper during off-season. If budget permits, this place is absolutely worth experiencing.
Four Seasons Hotel: A New Benchmark in Modern Luxury
The Four Seasons Hotel opened in 2020 and has a more contemporary style compared to the Ritz. I particularly loved their rooftop bar, which offers panoramic views of central Madrid—the sunset scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. The room design is sleek and sophisticated, with high-level smart technology allowing curtains, lighting, and temperature to be controlled via Madrid NH Hotel tablet.
The bathroom features a separate shower and bathtub, with Diptyque amenities—a definite plus. The spa area is also excellent, with a swimming pool that, while not large, is beautifully designed. The price is comparable to the Ritz, but I feel the overall value proposition is slightly better.
Other Worthy Considerations
Besides Madrid hotel rankings these two properties, I also experienced the Westin Palace and Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques. Here’s a quick comparison table:
| Hotel Name | Location Advantage | Signature Service | Price Range |
| Ritz-Carlton | Next to Retiro Park | Traditional butler service | 500-700€ |
| Four Seasons Hotel | City center Calle Sevilla | Modern facilities + Rooftop | 450-650€ |
| Westin Palace | Near Puerta del Sol | Historic building + Prime location | 350-500€ |
| Gran Meliá | Royal Palace area | Spanish luxury brand | 400-550€ |
Personal Recommendations
If this is your first visit to Madrid and your budget is relatively flexible, I would recommend the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton. While the Westin Palace is a historic building with great character, its facilities are somewhat dated. Gran Meliá, as a Spanish domestic brand, offers attentive service with a stronger Spanish flavor.
I originally wanted to try Rosewood Villa Magna, but didn’t have enough time this trip—I’ll add it next time. Overall, Madrid’s top-tier hotels maintain very high standards, and the choice mainly depends on personal preferences and budget. Feel free to share other recommendations or questions for discussion!
