Having recently moved to Madrid, I’m incredibly excited to be here for this year’s Madrid Masters season as a tennis fan. Previously, when living in other cities, I always struggled to find suitable viewing options, so I’ve done some research to share with fellow tennis enthusiasts.
Television Broadcast Options
The most direct way to watch the Madrid Masters in Spain is through television. Movistar Plus+ is the primary broadcaster, with their sports channels providing full live coverage. If you have a Movistar subscription at home, simply tune to the #Vamos channel. Additionally, DAZN España has acquired broadcasting rights for some ATP events in recent years, so check their schedule.

Online Streaming Platforms
For those without TV subscriptions, streaming is an excellent alternative. Amazon Prime Video also broadcasts tennis events in Spain. I watched the French Open through them last year. While I’m unsure if this year’s Madrid Masters is on their list, it’s worth checking in advance. ATP’s official Tennis TV is the most reliable option. Although it requires a paid subscription, it covers virtually all Masters events throughout the year.
Here’s a comparison of each platform’s pros and cons:
| Platform | Advantages | Disadvantages |
| Movistar Plus+ | High quality, professional commentary | Requires package subscription |
| DAZN | Individual subscription available | Limited event coverage |
| Tennis TV | Official ATP, comprehensive coverage | Higher monthly fee |
| Prime Video | Multi-purpose platform | Limited sports content |
Free Viewing Options
Honestly, watching matches completely free is somewhat challenging. However, some public broadcasters occasionally air finals or major matches, such as RTVE. Additionally, some sports bars in central Madrid show matches on large screens with amazing atmosphere, where you can discuss with other fans. I personally highly recommend this experience.
I was going to mention some free streaming websites, but their quality varies significantly and there are copyright concerns, so I don’t recommend taking that risk. After all, there are only a few Masters events per year, so subscribing for one month is worth the investment.
Live Match Experience
If your budget allows, I strongly recommend attending at least once to see Murray at the Madrid Masters live. The atmosphere at Caja Mágica is truly exceptional, and Madrid’s spring weather is perfect for outdoor activities. Tickets can be purchased through the official website or Ticketmaster, with early booking offering better prices. A friend attended the semifinals last year and said the experience was completely different, being able to observe players’ condition and technical details up close.
There are plenty of options for watching tennis in Madrid. I’m planning to subscribe to Tennis TV for a month this year, which will let me watch not only the Madrid Masters but also the Rome event. Feel free to share any other great viewing suggestions!
