Just returned from Málaga where I spent a week along the coast, staying at several hotels across different price ranges. Noticed some forum discussions about Málaga accommodation, so I thought I’d share my experience as a reference for everyone.
About Málaga’s Coastal Area
Málaga’s coastline stretches extensively, from the city center’s Malagueta Beach all the way east to the Pedregalejo district. Hotels in different areas vary significantly in price and atmosphere. The city center near the port offers convenient transportation but higher prices; the residential areas further east are relatively quieter with better value for money.

Hotel Comparison Worth Considering
I’ve compiled basic information about several hotels I stayed at and explored, including Málaga hotel apartments:
| Hotel Name | Location | Price Range | Features |
| Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro | Hillside | €120-180 | Stunning views but far from beach |
| AC Hotel Málaga Palacio | City Center | €90-140 | Convenient transport, modern facilities |
| Hotel Guadalmedina | Pedregalejo | €60-100 | Quiet, affordable, authentic local atmosphere |
Actual Stay Experience
I ultimately chose a small hotel in the Pedregalejo district, won’t mention the specific name to avoid any advertising suspicion. The biggest advantage of this area is its authentic local neighborhood feel, with locals strolling along the beach rather than the commercialized atmosphere of downtown. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk to the beach, surrounded by numerous chiringuitos where you can enjoy fresh espetos in the evening.
The room facilities aren’t luxurious, but clean and comfortable, with a small balcony offering sea views. The front desk staff were fluent in both English and Spanish, helping us book a day trip to Ronda. The only downside is that visiting city center attractions requires taking a bus or taxi, though the bus is very convenient and takes just 15 minutes.
Some Practical Tips
When booking, I recommend checking the hotel’s official website or Booking directly, as they’re sometimes cheaper than other platforms. Also, Málaga gets very hot in summer, so make sure to confirm the room has air conditioning. If you’re driving, ask about parking in advance as many city center hotels charge hefty parking fees.
Málaga offers plenty of accommodation options; the key is determining what matters most to you. If convenience is priority, stay in the city center; if you prefer tranquility and value, look towards the eastern residential areas like Vincci hotels. Don’t be fooled by those overly decorated trendy hotels, as they might not be as comfortable in practice as Málaga Picasso hotels. Hope this information helps everyone, feel free to leave comments with any questions.
