As an ordinary resident who has lived in Valencia for three years, I’d like to share with you about the weather in this city. Many newcomers often ask me about the weather, so I decided to compile my experience to share with everyone.
Valencia’s Climate Characteristics
Valencia has a typical Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine throughout the year and relatively low rainfall. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are mild and rainy. This climate pattern makes Valencia’s May weather a desired place to live for many people. To be honest, when I first arrived, I wasn’t quite used to Valencia’s March weather and its dry climate, but now I’m completely accustomed to it.

Four Seasons Weather Overview
Based on my observations over the past few years, Valencia’s four seasons are quite distinct. The table below summarizes the general conditions for each season:
| Season | Average Temperature | Rainfall | Clothing Suggestions |
| Spring | 15-22°C | Occasional rain | Light jacket + long sleeves |
| Summer | 25-32°C | Very little rain | Short sleeves + sun protection |
| Autumn | 18-25°C | Increased rainfall | Long sleeves + light jacket |
| Winter | 10-16°C | More rainfall | Heavy coat + scarf |
Summer is really hot here, with temperatures often exceeding 30 degrees in July and August, but fortunately the humidity is low, so it’s quite comfortable in the shade. Although it doesn’t snow in winter, the sea breeze can be quite cold, so I recommend preparing a windproof jacket.
Practical Weather Tips
Regarding checking the Valencia weather forecast, I personally recommend using AEMET’s official app, as the data is quite accurate. Additionally, some local news websites also provide detailed weather forecast information.
Here’s a little tip: Valencia’s weather can change quite quickly, especially in spring and autumn particularly during transitional seasons, when the temperature difference between morning and evening can reach over 10 degrees. My experience is to check the day’s high and low temperatures before going out and prepare appropriate clothing.
Special Weather Phenomena
Occasionally, we experience a weather phenomenon called “gota fría,” which usually occurs between September and November. This weather brings short-term heavy rainfall, sometimes with a single day’s rainfall reaching the entire month’s average. When this happens, I recommend everyone stay indoors and avoid going out.
Valencia’s weather is still very pleasant, with most of the year being sunny. If you’ve just moved here or are planning to visit, I hope this information helps you. If you have any other questions about the weather, feel free to leave comments below for discussion!
