Last month I traveled to Zaragoza on business and stayed at Hotel Reina Petronila following a friend’s recommendation. This hotel is located in the city center, just a 15-minute walk from the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, making it incredibly convenient for those looking to explore the old town and considering Zaragoza hotel room options.
Hotel Overview
The hotel’s exterior shows some age, but the interior is well-maintained and renovated. The lobby isn’t large but has a warm atmosphere, and the front desk staff were friendly with good English communication skills. Check-in was quick with minimal waiting. I booked a standard double room, approximately 20 square meters—typical for European hotels and comparable to Zaragoza hotel prices in this range.

Room Facilities & Experience
The room was equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen TV, mini fridge, and safe. The bed comfort was decent with medium-firm pillows. The bathroom was somewhat compact but had sufficient shower pressure and reliable hot water. The only minor issue was average soundproofing—voices in the hallway were noticeable, though it quieted down after 10 PM.
The hotel offers free WiFi with speeds around 5-8 Mbps, adequate for streaming videos and handling work emails. Daily housekeeping was provided with timely towel changes. Worth noting: the hotel doesn’t provide disposable slippers or toothbrushes, so you’ll need to bring your own. For more accommodation insights, check out Swiss Hotel Zaragoza reviews as well.
Surrounding Area & Transportation
The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and supermarkets. A 5-minute walk takes you to a Mercadona supermarket with affordable prices. Several nearby Tapas bars offer good food at reasonable prices. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel, with about 15 minutes to the train station. Taxi fare to the airport runs between 25-30 euros.
Value Assessment
This hotel falls into the mid-to-upper range category. Here’s a comparison of main Zaragoza hotels:
| Hotel Name | Location Advantage | Price Range | Recommendation | |
| Hotel Reina Petronila | City center, convenient transport | €60-90/night | ★★★★☆ |
| NH Zaragoza | Near exhibition center | €70-100/night | ★★★★☆ |
| Ibis City Center | Near train station | €50-70/night | ★★★☆☆ |
I booked during a promotion and got a double room with breakfast for €75 per night, which I found to be good value. Breakfast is buffet-style with a modest but adequate selection including bread, ham, cheese, fruit, and decent coffee from the machine.
Overall, if you need well-located, well-equipped, and reasonably priced accommodation in Zaragoza, Hotel Reina Petronila is worth considering. However, if soundproofing is a priority or you prefer more modern decor, you might want to compare a few more options. Feel free to leave comments with any questions.
