I’ve spent time in Zaragoza last year and this year, staying at several hotels throughout my visits. I thought I’d compile this information as a reference for everyone. As the capital of the Aragon region, Zaragoza offers plenty of accommodation options, from budget-friendly to high-end hotels. The key is finding what suits your needs.
City Center Hotels
If it’s your first time in Zaragoza, I strongly recommend staying near the old town. The Hotel Sauce I stayed at is just a five-minute walk from Plaza del Pilar, and the location is incredibly convenient. You can walk to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in the morning, and restaurants, shops, and attractions are all concentrated nearby. This hotel has modern decor, and while the rooms aren’t large, they’re very clean. Double rooms cost around 70-90 euros per night, including breakfast. The only downside is the soundproofing is average, though that’s typical for old town hotels.

Best Value Option
Another hotel worth mentioning is NH Ciudad de Zaragoza, a chain hotel with reliable standardized service. It’s located on Paseo de la Constitución avenue, not far from both the train station and old town, about a ten-minute walk. The rooms are more spacious than the previous one, with better facilities, priced around 65-85 euros. Personally, I think if you have lots of luggage or are traveling with family, this Zaragoza hotel room is more suitable.
Train Station Area Options
If you need to frequently travel to other cities, staying near the train station is a good choice. Catalonia El Pilar is right next to Delicias train station, extremely convenient for transportation. Although it’s a bit farther from the city center, it’s quick by bus or taxi. This hotel is relatively affordable at around 50-70 euros, suitable for those on a budget. Plus, there’s a large Carrefour supermarket nearby where Zaragoza hotel prices make shopping very convenient.
Here’s a comparison of basic information for several hotels, including the Zaragoza Swiss Hotel:
| Hotel Name | Price Range | Location | Features |
| Hotel Sauce | 70-90 euros | Old Town | Prime location |
| NH Ciudad de Zaragoza | 65-85 euros | City Center | Spacious comfortable rooms |
| Catalonia El Pilar | 50-70 euros | Train Station | Convenient and affordable |
| Vincci Zaragoza Zentro | 80-110 euros | Business District | High-end complete facilities |
Booking Tips
A few practical booking tips: Zaragoza has the Fiestas del Pilar in October, when hotel prices rise and availability becomes scarce, so I recommend booking at least a month in advance. For other times, one to two weeks ahead is fine for reasonable prices. Additionally, weekend rates are usually 10-20 euros more expensive than weekdays, so if your schedule is flexible, you can avoid weekends.
Important reminder: Zaragoza gets extremely hot in summer, with temperatures often exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in July and August, so make sure to confirm air conditioning when booking. I learned this the hard way on my first visit when I booked a budget hotel with only a fan—it was too hot to sleep. Also, regarding parking, if you’re driving, ask in advance whether the hotel has parking spaces. Many old town hotels don’t have their own parking lots, so you’ll need to use nearby public parking, which costs over ten euros per day—a significant expense.
Zaragoza hotels offer good value for money, much cheaper than Madrid or Barcelona. You can choose the right area based on your budget and itinerary. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment—I’m happy to share what I know.
