Last autumn I arrived in Zaragoza, and the first thing I did was find a reliable place to learn Spanish. A friend recommended the University of Zaragoza’s language school, saying that even locals go there to learn foreign languages. I decided to give it a try and enrolled, and now after two semesters of classes, I want to share my genuine experience with everyone.
Enrollment Process and Placement Test
The registration process is actually quite straightforward - you can go directly to the language center office or fill out a form online. However, I recommend visiting in person, as the staff will patiently explain the differences between various courses. Before enrollment, you need to take a placement test that includes both written and oral components, taking about an hour. The test isn’t too difficult; it’s mainly to place students in appropriate classes. I was placed in the A2 level, with about 15 students in the class from different countries.

Course Structure and Class Schedule
The language school offers quite a variety of course types, including intensive courses, regular courses, and weekend courses. I chose the regular course, which meets three times a week, two hours per session, from 7 PM to 9 PM. This schedule works perfectly for me, allowing me to do other things during the day. The course content covers all four aspects: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Teachers use many real-life scenarios for instruction, such as grocery shopping, seeing a doctor, or renting an apartment - situations you encounter in daily life.
Teaching Quality and Methods
The teachers I’ve encountered are all very professional and especially patient. The main instructor, Ana, has been teaching at the [University of Zaragoza] for over ten years, and her teaching methods are very flexible - she doesn’t just read from the textbook. Every class includes group discussions or role-playing, giving us opportunities to speak. I was quite nervous at first, but gradually got used to it. Teachers correct pronunciation and grammar errors promptly, but never make you feel embarrassed.
Here’s a comparison of different course types:
| Course Type | Weekly Hours | Duration | Tuition |
| Intensive Course | 15 hours | 3 months | €450 |
| Regular Course | 6 hours | 4 months | €320 |
| Weekend Course | 4 hours | 5 months | €280 |
Learning Atmosphere and Extra Activities
Classmates come from all over the world - Japanese, Americans, Moroccans - and everyone gets along wonderfully. After class, we often go for coffee together or practice speaking. The school also organizes cultural activities every month, such as museum visits, movie screenings, and traditional food tastings. These activities not only help us understand Spanish culture through University of Zaragoza accommodation experiences but also allow us to meet more friends.
The University of Zaragoza Language School is an excellent choice. The prices are reasonable, teaching quality is guaranteed, and the location is very convenient, right in the city center. If you’re in Zaragoza or planning to come here to study Spanish at the University of Zaragoza, you should definitely consider this school. Feel free to leave comments with any questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them.
