I just got back from Zaragoza last month, and many friends have been asking me how much the trip cost. Today I’ve organized my receipts and want to share the actual expenses with you, hoping it will help those planning to visit Zaragoza.
Accommodation Costs
I stayed in Zaragoza for 6 nights, choosing a three-star hotel near the city center with a very convenient location, just a 10-minute walk to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. The nightly rate was approximately 55 euros, totaling 330 euros for 6 nights. If you’re on a tighter budget, hostel beds cost around 20-25 euros per night, while apartments range between 40-80 euros, so there are plenty of options. Food Expenses
Dining prices in Zaragoza are noticeably cheaper than in Madrid and Barcelona. I usually had breakfast at the hotel, lunch at local restaurants, and sometimes dinner at tapas bars. Here’s my average daily food spending:
| Meal | Average Price | Notes |
| Breakfast | 5 euros | Coffee with bread |
| Lunch | 12 euros | Daily set menu |
| Dinner | 15 euros | Tapas or simple meal |
| Snacks/drinks | 5 euros | Coffee, ice cream, etc. |
Food expenses for the week totaled approximately 260 euros. The local Menu del dia (daily set menu) is incredibly good value, offering starter, main course, dessert, and drink for just 10-15 euros.
Transportation Costs
I took the bus from the airport to the city center for just 1.85 euros. For getting around the city, I mainly walked, occasionally using buses or metro with single tickets at 1.35 euros. I bought a 10-trip card for 7.5 euros, which is much cheaper than buying individual tickets. I also took a taxi to Aljafería Palace one day, costing about 15 euros round trip. Total transportation expenses were approximately 30 euros.
Attraction Tickets and Activities
Many attractions in Zaragoza are free, such as the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. For paid attractions, I visited Aljafería Palace (5 euros), Goya Museum (6 euros), and attended a flamenco show (25 euros). I originally wanted to see a bullfight but the timing didn’t work out. This category cost about 50 euros.
To sum up, my total expenses for a week in Zaragoza were approximately 670 euros, not including round-trip flights. If you want to save more, staying in hostels and eating more supermarket food could bring it down to around 500 euros while still having a great time. Of course, if you want better accommodations and dining, you can adjust your budget upward. You can find more details about Zaragoza travel costs in this comprehensive breakdown.
