Valencia Storyline Reaches Critical Turning Point
I finally completed Chapter 5 of the Valencia main questline recently, and honestly, the plot twists in this chapter were truly unexpected. From Calpheon all the way to the desert depths, what seemed like a simple treasure hunt actually unraveled secrets of ancient civilizations and power struggles within the royal court. This chapter’s quest design is much more complex than previous ones, requiring not just travel but puzzle-solving as well. I recommend preparing adequate supplies before starting these quests.

Main Quest Flow Breakdown
Chapter 5’s core missions revolve around finding the lost ancient temple. First, you need to collect three stone tablet fragments in the desert. This process requires patience, as visibility in the desert is low and sandstorms are frequent. I recommend using desert camouflage or a camel mount, which can significantly improve movement efficiency. After collecting the fragments, head to the library in Valencia City to decipher the inscriptions. This is where Valencia real estate triggers a lengthy cutscene narrating the rise and fall of the ancient Aal civilization.
The next mission is the chapter’s climax—infiltrating the desert temple. Inside, there are numerous traps and mechanisms requiring you to activate four altars in a specific sequence. Note that the third altar has a hidden pressure plate; stepping on it incorrectly will trigger monster spawns, so grouping up is recommended. The boss battle at the temple’s deepest point is moderately difficult; mainly focus on dodging its area-of-effect skills. Upon completion, you’ll receive a legendary off-hand weapon as a reward.
Character Development and Plot Analysis
In this chapter, NPC Barhan’s character development is exceptionally well-crafted. He evolves from an ordinary caravan guard to gradually revealing himself as an exiled prince of the Valencia royal family. I previously thought he was just a minor character, but the plot twist caught me completely off guard. His grudges with the current Sultan and their differing visions for the Valencia strategy desert’s future form the story’s main conflict. Ultimately, players must make a choice: support Barhan in reclaiming the throne or maintain the status quo by helping the Sultan stabilize the situation. This choice affects subsequent chapter storylines.
| Choice Direction | Subsequent Impact | Reward Differences |
| Support Barhan | Unlocks rebel questline | Obtain Desert Knight equipment |
| Support Sultan | Unlocks court questline | Obtain Royal Guard equipment |
| Remain neutral | Access both questlines | Halved rewards but more flexibility |
Practical Strategy Tips
Completing this chapter takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. I recommend finishing it in one sitting, as exiting midway may reset certain quest progress. Equipment-wise, you need at least TRI main and off-hand weapons, with defense preferably above 200; otherwise, elite mobs in the temple will be quite challenging. Stock up on health and mana potions—mounts cannot be used inside the temple, so you’ll be traveling on foot throughout.
Also, a reminder: don’t rush to leave the desert after completing the main quest. There are several hidden treasure chests around the temple containing rare alchemy materials and blueprints. I teleported away immediately after finishing and only learned about these from guides later, forcing me to make another trip. While the desert map is large, once you familiarize yourself with the routes, it’s not too troublesome—the key is remembering several important landmark structures.
Valencia Story Chapter 5 delivers excellent quality, with well-balanced storyline, gameplay, and rewards. For players who enjoy narrative-driven content, it’s definitely worth experiencing. Moreover, this chapter’s choice system sets up foreshadowing for future content. I’m looking forward to more Valencia entrance surprises in upcoming chapters.
